General information only

Everything here is general information about foundation movement, soil behaviour and repair methods in and around Nashville. It is not an inspection report, an engineering opinion, or advice about a specific property.

Where the figures come from

Climate, soil and code figures on this site are drawn from U.S. Census ACS 2020-2024 via Census Reporter; NOAA NCEI 1991-2020 Climate Normals (USW00013897); NWS Nashville May 2010 flood summary; FEMA DR-1909 declaration data; USDA NRCS MLRA 123 ecological site description; Tennessee Board for Licensing Contractors license pages (all fetched 2026-10-08). Sources are cited so they can be checked rather than taken on trust. Code editions change and adopting jurisdictions amend provisions, so anything decisive should be confirmed with the authority that will inspect the work.

Cost figures

Ranges are typical figures, explained on the cost guide, and are illustrative rather than quotations. What a particular job costs depends on access, condition and scope, none of which can be known from a web page.

Licensing

Verify any contractor on Tennessee's own licensing register rather than relying on a number printed on a website or a vehicle.

No guarantee of outcome

Work addresses the conditions found at the time — a repair stabilises what was measured on the day; soil moisture keeps moving afterwards and a structure can continue to adjust. Warranty terms, where offered, appear in the written scope and are the only commitments that apply.
